Delete your account and data
Link has no account of its own: you sign in with Google. Deleting your Link account removes all your devices and everything the service holds for your Google account. Your Google account itself is not touched.
In the app
- Open Link on your device, or Link on your Mac, wherever you are signed in. On the Mac, click your picture at the bottom of the sidebar; on Android, open Settings and find your account's card.
- Choose Delete account…, read what it deletes, confirm, and press Delete account. You may be asked to sign in with Google again first, so we know it's you.
- The app shows when your account was deleted, a receipt number, and what Google finishes later. Your other devices sign out straight away if they are on, or when they next go online, and each deletes what it kept of your account.
Delete account… shows only while you are signed in. To remove a single device instead, choose Remove from account beside it on the Devices page, or sign out on it.
Without a device
If you no longer have a Mac or device with Link, email hello@getlinked.now from the Google account's address, with the subject "Delete my Link account". We delete everything below and reply within one month (UK and EU GDPR), or within 45 days for a request under California's CCPA.
What is deleted, and what is kept
- Deleted at once: every device record in Firebase (names, kinds, public keys, wake tokens, whether they are online, when they were last seen), connection details still waiting, removed-device records, your relay use (and any relay login still valid is ended), and your sign-in with Firebase Authentication.
- Finished later: we ask Google Analytics to delete your usage events at the same moment, and Google takes up to about 2 months to finish. Crash reports, which carry no names or content, can't be deleted one person at a time and expire after 90 days.
- Kept as proof, without your data: a record that a deletion happened, when, and which steps were done, with no email address, account id or anything else that names you, for 90 days.
- On your devices: each signs out and deletes what it kept of your account. Uninstall the Android app, or choose Reset Android Link… in the Mac's Settings › Advanced, to delete everything else they kept, such as settings.
- Never held: what Link carries between your devices (notifications, messages, calls, files, the clipboard, the screen) never reaches us, so there is nothing of it to delete.
Even without deleting, nothing is kept for longer than 90 days: a device not seen for 90 days is removed, usage events last 2 months and crash reports 90 days. Signing in again on any device starts a new account. See the privacy policy for the rest.
